Why would this have been better? A GA is UA, i.e. an agent acting within the course and scope of their responsibilities to their employer.

Or they possibly could have aggresively demanded that the woman were moved out of her row. It's not entirely clear to me what really happened.
What difference does it make?

David Duke approaches a GA before boarding:

DD: Excuse me, ma'am. I'm David Duke and I'm a white supremacist. Here's a list of people I won't sit next to on a plane: People of color, Jews, Catholics, Muslims and gay people. Could you please accommodate my preferences?

GA: Certainly, Mr. Duke. Let me see what I can do. Okay, I see you're seated next to a man name Goldberg. He obviously won't do. Let's see who I can switch him with? Hmmm. Well, the first name of the man seated in front of him is "Laquan." That sounds African American, so he's out. The person next to him is named Shamus O'Hara. That's an Irish name and a lot of them are Catholics. Better be safe than sorry, right? Hmmm. In the next row is Mohammad Castro -- just kidding, I know, two for two. Oh, here's someone: Jake Smith. Oh, wait, he's transferring from a flight from San Francisco -- he might be gay.

Is that the kind of airline you want to fly on?
