My wife thinks the cuisine here is inconsistent - we loved our first time here, not long after it opened, but she has been back a few times since and has consistently said the food quality is not that good.

Neighborhood would be good to know as well. I live near Flatiron, and there is a spot called The Gander that has a lot of space in the back for private dining. I'm sure they can probably do a set menu, and knowing the price range for their meals, I feel like $150/pp is doable. Good alcohol selection as well (particularly beers and cocktails). It's on 18th between 5/6, IIRC. Excellent contemporary American cuisine.
