It's not a status thing in my opinion, but for domestic they need to introduce some sort of business class which offers complimentary drinks and snacks. Imagine paying £10,000 for a F return from a domestic outstation and having to pay for a cup of tea and biscuit on the connecting flight. Possibly the least premium thing ever.
