AKL-SIN 2017 1 way
Y was $800 PE $1600 then J came down to ~ $1900. Not worth RU or upgrade at that price point so just buy out right with cash and 2nd ticket with APD and split cost of BP with colleague or relative etc. Win win. No status needed. Works out to $965 ea just $165 above a Y fare. J jumped back up to $2899 after.
