In the (what seems like) zillions of times that I've flow in/out of England, it has always been LHR for better or (usually) worse.
But next week I am flying out of LCY for the first time and was wondering where the car rental (Hertz in this case) drop off is relative to the check in counters? Is it walkable?
And regarding gas, I see a BP station on the south side of the airport (on the A1020) that looks convenient....if not, please let me know.

LCY is a small airport so the car hire on site is very limited. The following do have an on-site presence;
- Hertz
- Avis
- Europcar
- Budget
When coming from arrivals, you go out the main exit and turn left. The car hire office is about 30m further down on the left. You can't miss it!
As for the cars themselves, Avis use the car park opposite the car hire office. But the rest use spaces further down the Hartmann road (least) after the roundabout. GPS coordinates are: 51.502542, 0.053876
This is walkable, and in fact there is no other option! You follow the signs, walk through the car park to the cars. Pick up and drop off is the same place, although for drop off you have to then walk back up to the office in most cases.
For Petrol, what you found is good. But I would suggest the Tesco in "Gallions Reach" shopping centre. This is also just off the A1020. GPS coordinates are 51.515370, 0.078711
We do this once or twice a year, next time in a few weeks.
