The east coast flights at that time departed more or less the same time back then, and SEA would still have been on the ground in CPH or just left CPH when the airspace closed. It left just around the same time as SK983 if I remember correctly.
I was flying United internationally on 9/11; but, as there was no internet service inflight available to me then, I never saw flight maps that day or even on the 12th. Because of 9/11, I would end up in CPH a lot in the weeks and months that followed.
