According to the Las Vegas forum, the monorail won't open until at least June. So depending on when you'll be there the monorail may or may not help you. You can walk over to the strip in 15 minutes or so, faster if you don't dawdle. It can be a hot walk, however, once the temperatures start soaring. You can always take a cab, depending on your destination on the strip. I haven't done that myself, so maybe others can give you an idea of how much it costs.
