My last trip with MAS - in 2014 as it happens - was on an EI/MH ticket from Dublin to Sydney. My first ever trip to Australia in 2002 was on a bmi/Malaysia ticket from Dublin to Sydney - but EI provided all the Irish feed for MH after their departure from DUB.
Yet for a carrier that would require two-stops (LHR and KUL), attracting a third to half the feed of BA and VS is indeed quite surprising. I think that's the interesting bit and there hasn't been a full-bodied theory that explains why MH has a much much bigger share than say, SQ.
