Would be useful to know to avoid paying for an extra day if arrival and departure times are close.
In that example I believe you would be able to depart up until 9pm on the 10th without further charge. I've been caught in a late-night cancellation before, and made it back in the following morning without paying extra. Equally I've been back 14 hours late and been charged for another day at the drive-up rate.
Customer Services confirmed the 12 hour leeway to me by phone on the latter when I tried to extend whilst parked (something you annoyingly STILL can't do).
As you say its worth knowing about, but because it isn't publicly documented it can't be relied upon not to change without notice!
