  • I found there were economy seats on the upper deck, which looked like no economy class seat I've ever seen on an Emirates A380.
  • Instead, they looked like a high density 777 configuration.
  • So was glad to be in business.
  • Didn't get a look downstairs.
  • At MAN, the upper deck economy passengers got off the plane first...

Now, I've only ever used used economy downstairs, and those were pretty nice and wide, with a decent seat back screen.

So, am I missing something or are some A380 economy class seats more equal than others?
You are on a 2 class A380, which has reduced J seating and Y on the upper deck - in a 2-4-2 config, rather than 3-4-3 on the lower deck. There are also slightly bigger toilets on the upper deck for Y.

For J, there is no difference (apart from reduced crew number) and the potential for the first cabin of Y to disembark before you (the one you go through before going to J). However on a lighter load flight, that area will be blocked off.

The good news is that all the 2-class A380s have the very latest ICE!
