Hyatt's going to be seeing a decent chunk of its customers become Marriott Gold as a result of the SPG/Marriott combination, and the Marriott Gold benefits are worth more than the Hyatt Platinum benefits and get lounge access/breakfast at a lot of properties. Maybe Hyatt should reintroduce some form of Platinum Extras again.
I'm wondering if this merger puts a lot of pressure on Hyatt. As the previous two posters mentioned, it seems that concentrating on SPG/Marriott opens up a lot of doors and nicer properties in almost all locations and a lot of loyalty might swing towards SPG/Marriott.
I'm kind of hoping Hyatt will re-introduce a Diamond Status match (or even a challenge!) like they did last year. Unfortuntately I missed out on that but this year I'm a few days away from SPG Plat so would love to match that to Hyatt Diamond. I'm also wishfully hoping for this as I have a vacation planned for Christmas that will take me to Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Park Hyatt New York and Andaz New York. Would love to be a Diamond at these properties rather than a lowly Plat.
