Not sure why you're so freaked out about that report from a few years ago.
So far, containment has worked for AC and some others, 788s and 789s are not falling out of the sky.
I flown close to 40 flights on AC's birds. Awesome stuff.
And I suppose I have great confidence in and respect for the AC pilots who drive. I've been very lucky to have met a few of them.
Frankly, if you want to worry about planes and things, take a look at other airlines. Some scary bits out there if you want to think about it.
I think the 788 is fantastic news for YUL, I think PVG is a great opportunity and of course, you can always monitor loads on EF and perhaps grab a deal.
