I just completed a 4 night stay and thought would provide a review since I could not find anything very recent. Was upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite 5 days prior to arrival using SNUs. Check-in was smooth and so was check-out. Good public areas that are well maintained. We went during low season, so there were very few people at the pool. Beach is good but the surf results in unsafe waters.

The food was sub-par though, specially for the price (they have you captive). We had a car, so went to town for a couple of meals which were the best we had on the trip. We took the Platinum Breakfast amenity, which is for continental and can be upgraded to a full buffet for USD 10. Kids between 3 and 5 is USD 5 for full buffet and below 3 is no charge. We tried all the restaurants and were disappointed with all.

Would I return? Yes, given its a 2 hour flight from LA. But will try the Westin or even the JW next.
