Just finished picking up a couple of HKG-LAX-HKG tkts in J for 12,685 RMB through Elong. This really is an incredible deal at under USD2,000.

As others have pointed out, this seems to be strictly an O/D promotional fare, since even adding on a TPE-HKG segment or extending the tkt to another destination in the US causes the price to skyrocket.

Given that CX has been resting on its laurels for far too long, I'm delighted to see these fares. Service attitude can be lousy on AA, but the seats, F&B, and inflight entertainment (plus the option of Internet), really make AA attractive at this price point.

The message to CX: It's time to up your game if you want my business again.
