If you suspect overbooking then you should use OLCI to check-in as soon as it opens 48 hours prior to departure. It will be more difficult to downgrade you if you already have a boarding pass.
Unfortunately, I've cancelled my subscription to Expertflyer as I only ever used it to check on reward flight availability, and now I've finally made GGL, the jokers are enough to cover any reward flights I make. Will definitely use OLCI.

Yes, when I contact them about compensation for the initial downgrade from First to Business, I will also ask them to secure my Business seat on the 777, but will still use OLCI for a belt and braces approach.
In the (I hope highly unlikely) event that I am downgraded at check-in, can I expect to receive cash compensation of 75% of the cost of that sector under EC261? And if so, should this be paid at the airport?
