Thanks for keeping the thread going ... love the stories!
I have another travel one, not aircraft related so don't shoot me
Many years ago i was leading some friends from the States around Europe and being the "travel guy" they deferred to my superior knowledge and experience.

We had left Budapest and were en route by train to Vienna when we stopped at a small station and there was a lot of clunking and banging as the train was being split up to two destinations.
We were young and having fun so all our stuff was spread around the compartment; bottles of wine and beer opened and sandwiches were in play. One of the guys casually asked if I was sure this was the correct section. I replied don't be silly and that I had checked when we boarded.
I did feel bit queasy about that assuredness and stuck my head out of the window to ask a guard. Of course I was wrong and he said the train was leaving now!
I shouted at the others to move it and they did! I stayed on board and started throwing our gear out of the window to them on the platform as they gathered it all up and hauled ... to the other ... now departing train.
Finally, all done I ran to the door and jumped onto the platform as the train we really wanted was now gathering a good speed. Fortunately I was younger and fitter and the train doors were the old slam type. A guard was holding the door and shouting at me to run faster! My friends were leaning out of the window cheering me on ... well I like to think that
I did manage to board, just.
That story is still told by the same friends ... over 25 years later
