Fare-check Uber to find out if it's worth your time. If you're already getting a $100 fare on a
70-mile private car ride, it's quite possible that Uber isn't the huge savings you think it is.
(2) Since you're flying to the
same international airport, why not get a local PAYG SIM? Even if its credits expire, you should be able to keep the same SIM in your phone and not have to search for a new one every time you travel. Just nudge it with a little credit via the carrier website every now and then.
(3) If this is really your only use for local cellular, get to know the airport and find Wifi when you arrive. In recent years, I've almost stopped bothering to find local SIMs when I travel...since wifi is so pervasive for "normal" needs and my quad-band phone *can* make a (semi-expensive) call if I'm in an emergency.
(4) Hope you find Uber drivers who want the 70-mile fare. I wouldn't *think* this would be an issue, as long as the endpoint is in the city where they'd get more rides. 70 miles out into BFE (especially if it's
literally BFE

) might not be as attractive to an Uber driver.
