We're making a quick trip to Vancouver next week and will have a tight schedule. Return flight is to SFO; the airline (UA) says arrive 3 hours before the flight time to allow for security, etc. but I'm wondering if that is really necessary for a 7:30 pm flight on a Tuesday?

Won't be doing much shopping, know not to carry agricultural products, have valid US passports, traveling carry-on only.
