Agree that you can try, but you're technically not entitled to a refund. You voluntarily purchased something that had a charge associated with it based on your status at time of booking. You had to have known you were on the cusp of achieving Platinum - you maybe should've selected seats for free when you made the res and then once your Plat status became active gone back into the res and selected the seats complimentary.
