Lightbulb What do we think about Accor's fiddle with "booking dates"?

It's been a year now since I booked under a promo requiring reservations be made by September 20.

As the final of three qualifying stays, the award was to be 5000 points.

From the West Coast of USA, I must have booked this in the afternoon of September 20. I received a confirmation email with this date on it.

I have submitted copied text and screenshots of this confirmation at least twice, and communicated with Amy here twice. No reply from her to my last.

Accor claims the reservation was made Sept 21. Of course, they are referring to a computer record they maintain in another time zone and date.

(I suspect most Europe-based members here have never encountered this question. And members in Asia are a day ahead anyway.)

I canceled other reservations and changed travel plans at other preferred hotels solely with the trust that my received confirmation showed this reservation to be qualifying for the 5000 point award. Never did it occur to me that time and date differences would be significant. Of course, I am well aware of that now.

What should the response of a "loyalty" program be?

If I were truly despairing of a just result from Accor, and in a snarky mood, I might refer to the two times before that I have been robbed on my travels (Rio & Costa Rica), each for about $60, and compare them to this ongoing breaking of that unfortunate record. But, of course, out of my loyalty and appreciation for their fine hotels and rapid points-posting, I shall restrain myself from such dramatics.
