IB does not give out anything for free to status passengers, and I see no reason why BA should do it. U.S.-based airlines do it as an 'apology' for the lack of an upgrade to first class, but European airlines do not give out complimentary upgrades and passengers fly in the ticketed cabin regardless of status.
