Are you sure the problem isn't your itinerary?

All the agent needs to do is key your flights into the computer. There's a school of thought that the call centers are the best for booking complex awards because the agents tend not to insert their own opinions about what's legal or not.

If your itinerary is being rejected, chances are it's not the agent.

That said, if you call after 10 pm (or before 6 am) Pacific time, you might get connected to HNL. Those are collectively the best agents UA has.
