2 different LONE given with tax break up. below.

jnb-hkg-del-tyo-hnl-lax-CHI-las-dca-SLC-MIA-LIM-SCL-EZE-GRU-JNB
tax cost 8360 ZAR

2nd JNB-MAD-HEL-DXB-SYD-AKL-HKG-CMB-TYO-LAS-MIA-LIM-SCL-BUE-SAO-JNB,
TAX COST 28,000 zar

MAINLY due to MULTIPLE CARRIERE SURCHAGE 5000 ZAR, AND CARRIER SURCHAGE 14000 ZAR, CAN somebody help in understanding the difference,
i prefer the 2nd on so i can break the RTW twice in between so i can space out over 1 year ....

is this because there are 7 carriers in 2nd LONE where as only 4 in first does this affect pricing?
The number of carriers will not affect the carrier surcharges
But the choice of carrier (some charge and some do not) and the choice of first carrier (some collect surcharges for other carriers, some do not) will affect the total carrier surcharges.

The difference is dramatic in your cases, which to me implies that CX (the first carrier in your 2nd itinerary) is more zealous in collecting surcharges for other carriers than is IB (the first carrier in your 1st itinerary)

Also, your 1st itinerary has six intra-USA flights, which do not have surcharges, while your 2nd itinerary has more inter-continental flights, which generally do have surcharges (and sometimes quite hefty surcharges)

Finally, your first itinerary is a LONE4 (four continents - Africa-Asia-Nth America-Sth America) while your 2nd itinerary is a LONE6 (Africa-Europe/Middle East-South West Pacific-Asia-Nth America-Sth America)
That increases the base fare by ZAR9,000
