Having run a software tech support department, I can say that those kinds of suggestions are not that far off track.

Once we had a computer dealer that kept returning "bad" diskettes. On the phone with the 3rd set we discovered he was putting them in the computer upside down!

We also had a call for the broken cup holder (aka the CD-ROM drive), even though we were a software company.
