Good story man and welcome! I was matched to Diamon a couple of years ago while staying at a Hyatt House. Been diamond since. I found it very easy to rack up thousands of points once your are diamond, sometimes 3-5k points per night. Enjoy!!!

Yes, I have already taken advantaged plenty of the free breakfast. Hyatt breakfasts are consistently better than those offered at Hilton Properties. I did score a suite upgrade using a DSU at the Andaz Shanghai already. And, I did get an upgrade to the penthouse suite at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland Arcade.
Needless to say, it felt nice waking up feeling like P. Diddy in the big boys suite.
Yes, I agree with the points statements. I noticed by declining the welcome amenity, you get a large extra boost so the points do significantly add up faster.
