But on what date? Can't insist 1 January. Also I'm not sure if class of service can be maintained though an Avios refund will be due.
IMHO very low...
TMK, only JL flies HIJ-HND (NH flies to NRT with CRJs only).
But, HIJ-TYO-HKG is a very undesirable routing IMO v. the train (and 10 minute taxi ride) to FUK followed by a nonstop flight. Basically, it takes close to an hour to get from Hiroshima to HIJ, compared with ~2 hours to Fukuoka by train (let's call it 2.5 hours, including the airport transfer), and the backtrack to TYO (from HIJ) adds a solid 4 hours to total travel time.
In the end, I agree, and I'll let BA bully me into this particular resolution as there are worse potential resolutions. But let's keep things on topic as this is the CX forum, so back to CX:
I'm very date/time sensitive, as I have a CX flight to the USA from HKG a few hours after. Will CX protect me on separate PNRs if one flight is KA and one flight is CX?

You bring up a good point. I was rebooked on KA 381. Not expecting much from the in-flight product. Both product-wise and logistically, I'd very much rather fly CX on KIX-HKG. Alas, award availability via Avios (and Asia Miles) is nonexistent on 1 Jan.
