Two questions:

1) Is this the best option for us?

2) If so, can I link the tickets so I can make CPT the final stop when I check-in at IAH?

Everybody seems to be focusing on your topic title, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

When you say you can't rebook to CPT using saver, do you mean you've tried to searching for your whole journey as if a new ticket (i.e. IAH-XXX-CPT) or did you try searching for just the JNB-CPT segment as an award ticket. Because you already have a ticket to JNB, you *SHOULD* be able to get UA to add on JNB-CPT, assuming the saver rate exists for that segment only (and turning your existing ticket from IAH-XXX-JNB to IAH-XXX-JNB-CPT .

You'd be subject to $100 fee/ticket assuming you're a general member ($75 after Oct 6 if more than 60 days out otherwise $125 after Oct 6). I say should be able to tack on the JNB as part of the same existing saver award because there have been reports on LH where people have had problems (don't know about SA thought). But then you'd obviously save on buying the JNB-CPT outright. And more importantly, it would put it all on one ticket so you're protected in the case of IRROPS
