I have been using my address in China for several years. I guess since the PQD came into play.

I have reached Gold, and once Platinum, but I never, ever got the Gold or Platimum welcome kit. I called United's call center that I never got my cards/kit, and the said they'd re-send it, but could not get a precise date on when it would go out again. In any event, it was non-received. With mail being so unreliable in China, esp. non-EMS international mail, UA may well have resent it, I just never got it. Bottom line, if you want to get something, it better have a tracking number at least, and ideally need to be signed for.

Mail in China is rarely used. Almost all utitlies are paid via electronic or mobile backing, or use a pre-paid system that has you go to a bank to pay the utitlity at a special ATM. Any time I (or most anyone else) needs to "mail" something, we use an express delivery service, which only costs about $ 2-3 USD.

Anyway, I am about to make Gold in about two weeks, and I am thinking I'd change my address in China from my multi-tenant office building to my friend's single family home, which I figure will give me a better chance of getting the kit. Not too fussed with luggage tags or ID cards (I have never had a problem getting into a lounge, my status is always on my BP), but I'd be curious if it includes things like drink vouchers and lounge passes I could use or give away to friends.
