We are booked in J because this is for my honeymoon. I reminded them that this change was very involuntary in nature, but they redirected all blame to CX.
It seems to be that old cancelled route on redemption you must accept crappy routing or refund rigmarole again:

BAEC's liability certainly isn't limited to rebooking you to another redemption seat or refund. From the Sri Lankan case:
- applicable refund rules are KA CoC's 11.2(b)

- facilitator is BAEC as agent of KA

So OP has a right to insist BAEC reroute you and your wife to HIJ - possibly thru HND with JL or even with a non-OW airline if it comes to it. CX/BAEC's trying to bully you into accepting alternate destination.
But on what date? Can't insist 1 January. Also I'm not sure if class of service can be maintained though an Avios refund will be due.

IMHO very low...
