I think you will best be served by spending 20-30 mins searching around here and reading the vast amount of info. Search for cx883, cx881, cx845, cx873, cx893, cx829, cx889, cx888, cx870, cx880, cx811, red-eye, etc. (Those are most but possibly not all the north America red-eye flight #s). Also note 80pct of the European departures ex HKG are red-eyes, so you can read about them too. Im not saying this to be rude, but just the sweeping generalization about "opposition" to red-eyes is not really rooted in reality. Sure there may be a complaint here or there but it doesn't really do justice to the depth of information within this forum. There's no way this thread and a few replies will give you the reality you're looking for. That can be found exploring some threads in here.

Good luck. I think after reading you'll have your answer. It's a personal preference thing and you can just read about the pros and cons via everyone's thoughts.

Personally I've probably flown 100+ "red-eyes" to/from North America in the past 6 years or so, most on CX. Other forum members are similar. Something keeps us coming back. Many of our thoughts are expanded on thoroughly in other threads....not as an exact answer to your question, but with the necesaary context and anecdotes that probably answers it more fully!

Also, make sure to use advanced search in FT. Regular search still sucks.
