Do the refurbished AA 772 seats really have more space than the 77W? Admittedly I've only flown that aircraft once, but it felt less spacious than the 77W, somewhere between the AA 77W and BA CW (non 747 UD) in terms of space. Have had several flights on AA's 77W, which I find excellent apart from the overbearing fan noise in the front mini-cabin.
That said, the refurbished 772 was good, decent seat and much better IFE than BA, including (limited) live TV across the Atlantic as well as the wifi.
For the OP, if you haven't tried AA and the schedule/price suits, give it a go. That's not to knock BA, which is perfectly acceptable, but it's worth taking a look at how AA has upped its game in TATL J and form your opinion for future flights.
BA still has an advantage with the sleeper service on shorter TATLs, but that doesn't apply to MIA and AA is also bringing it in. I suppose BA is also covered by EC261 ex-MIA, which AA is not, if that matters to you.
