Of course, the folks doing screening for Precheck/GE nominally aren't about enforcing state DMV regulations...but I would guess that YMMV as to any individual employee's familiarity with them or interest in being sure you're following them.
You're required to update with DMV. However nearly all states no longer issue a new DL for an address change, unless requested and paid for.
