I have to say that after we went to the Maldives two years ago, we can't wait to go back.

Admittedly, while it was not our honeymoon, we were looking for a place to rest, and it was not inexpensive, but the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru was fantastic. We stayed for 6 nights and loved it.

We were also there when there was a local "industrial fair" in Male showing Maldivian made products that had won awards from the government. Next to machine tools were local handmade craft goods. This was not intended for tourists to see, and we had great difficulty convincing our guide to go there (since he would receive no kickback from the stores selling the Sri Lankan stuff).

But, to each their own.
