So, visual examples always work best. LOL

This was my AC 5, 788 (Sept 2014). Flight left YYZ 13:00. Photos were taken at approx 16:00 YYZ time. I also have a photo from 20:00 and the sun is still bright, so YMMV.

The dark green was the darkest shade available at the time. You can see how bright the sun was. AC has since had them modified to actually go much darker.
(photos of IFE map is location at the time the photos of the darkened window were taken)

Since you are flying on the 77, you can pull down the shades, but you will still feel the heat, just as I do on my flights to HKG.

As for my suggestion, should you be curious, you can search for how many hours of daylight you will have for the flight.

Bottom line: If you don't like sun or heat, sit on the right side.
