I'd argue that the airline doesn't give extra legroom in exit rows to be benevolent. They do it to make egress easier. So if they don't give any extra room, I have a hard time buying that it's actually an exit row.

At any rate, I can't really blame the flight attendant for an abundance of caution. I was more just wondering.
There's plenty of extra room just for the A seat.
