I cleared the standby list for an earlier flight and was dropped in 33B on an MD-88. I was trying to nap when my the guy sitting next to me tapped me on the shoulder because the flight attendant was trying to get my attention.

She was doing her exit row speech and wanted to make sure I heard it and affirmed I was OK to sit in the exit row. I was a little taken aback because I certainly had no extra legroom in 33B and didn't think it counted as an exit row.

Is it part of the exit row?
