It seems the OW status on the BP is what you had when you made the reservation even if you go to a different level between reservation and flight.

Well, too late to try it now since you already have a BP but one trick that
may trigger the status correct is to remove your FF number from the PNR on AY webpage and then add it back.
Sometimes not even that is sufficient and you need to contact CS if a correct status is important. Have encountered both scenarios.
AY status is updated quite fast and there are differences between OW airlines how quick they will see status changes on other carriers. I think AA is notoriously slow, no personal experience though.
