AF passengers exit customs right after immigration. You have to pick up your bags and re-register them with you next carrier before leaving the secure area.

It is a short walk to the check-in counters for United Airlines.

The last time I had that type of connection from CDG to MIA via IAD, UA managed to delay my baggage although I personally had to recheck my baggage and they had a 5 hour connection .
