I saw it on approach from Jack London Square and also worried something bad had happened at SFO a la Asiana a few years back. The winds didn't seem particularly strong in Oakland at least so it was surprising it caused so much trouble yesterday. I had arrived at OAK in the morning - must have been quite a sight to see all the planes that diverted there in the afternoon (two A380s, SAS A340, B6 A321, a handful of United planes...).
