Are you a minority female? I noticed this trend in a lot of Asian hotels. It's a bit sad in this day and age, but I usually make my Caucasian male SO check in when we travel in Asia because he tends to get automatic upgrades; whereas, I typically do not no matter what status I have (despite highest levels w/ Hhonors and IHG).
