If the door is open you can go up the ramp but you will normally be sent back down the ramp by the gate agents in the departure area who are already present when the BA flight arrives. I have tried it and I did not succeed. Following the normal procedure through B gate connections takes max. 10 minutes mostly walking time (from aircraft door upon arrival to the departure gate).
