Last year flying to RAK from Gatwick. I was cutting it fine but made it at some pace through check in, quick stop at the Lounge to pick up a paper and was on the bridge across to the gate, with the flight starting to board.
The phone rang...
'Is that mr woodbinerich?'
'Yes'
'It's the driver from the Gatwick express'
'Ok?'
'I've got your wallet'
Ah.... It turned out it had fallen out of my pocket onto a seat and someone very decent had turned it in.
Had to choose between going to Morocco without any money or cards or missing the flight, which I ended up doing. I had to go through the procedure to get back out, after they'd given me my wallet through the security section, and collect luggage. Not my finest hour.
Postscript: I went up to the BA desk and explained the situation to them and they very kindly rebooked me for the next day. I commented to them as leaving that it looked like the flight had been delayed so I might have made it after all. They pointed out that it was my bags being removed that had delayed the flight. D'oh.
