Checked out of a Home 2 Suites early, but not charged?
Hi all, hope you can help with this... this was the first time I've stayed at this location or at a Hilton. I normally travel through sponsorships, so my typical personal reservations are at smaller resorts and spas.
Long story short, I checked out of a Home2 Suites early. The front desk are apparently very trendy and hip and cool, and when I said we were leaving earlier than we thought, he told me "no problem, we'll just have to charge you for this night, you'll be emailed a receipt tomorrow." I did not receive a paper receipt.
The only time I gave them my card was during check-in, and a hold was placed on it.
I checked my bank account today and the hold had been released. I have not been charged for the nights stayed.
The things that I don't like about this:
1) The only paperwork I signed was related to property safety and asking for make/model of car.
2) I never signed any contract or agreement regarding the rate. In terms of the stay, I never actually agreed to anything by any written communication. For me, that's a first when staying at a hotel. Not only have I always booked online, I always get a receipt when checking out -- even if it's days early. (Had this happen once in Vegas for a conference, I was double booked by two different people in two different hotels. I checked in to the first, but 2 hours later we had to go through the entire check out process anyway just to zero it all out.)
3) I didn't receive any paperwork when I left. It's almost 24 hours later and I've yet to receive any kind of email confirmation. I'm not denying their was a reservation, but there's some technicalities here that don't seem right.
Obviously, I know I was there. But this brings up some possible questions around whether my identity was ever confirmed and what agreement was in place. Nothing was ever signed.
What should I do....?
