Ain't that the truth about waiting a bit! Turns out that all the hotels in/around Salem already are fully booked, as was The Nines in Portland (and the Heathman)--because of the solar eclipse. I had to get the SPG Ambassador team to get involved to get me a reservation at The Nines!
Looking forward to this excuse to try out Oregon wine country, indeed. But I'm most excited about that eclipse!
The Amangani in Wyoming was sold out by May this year, and the Four Seasons Jackson Hole has a 5 night minimum. Both these hotels are directly in the eclipse path. It's going to be hard to get into places for this event - I'm booked into a Wyoming dude ranch with a group of science nerds that do these
sciencey vacations.
For the Allison, my wife says the massage there was the best she's had - but book early to avoid missing out. She had to take an early morning slot to get anything at all!
