I think the issue will be not having the PQD regarding Gold Status. It would be around $4k PQD and cost $4k if I booked it through United but only $2800 if I booked it directly through Air China. I'm struggling on justifying the extra $1200.
I'm seeing the whole flight at $3400 in Business on google.com/flights for random December dates.
