All the airlines are seperate entities, the only thing they all have in common is a website and the AirAsia brand. Even the long haul affiliated airlines, XT, XJ, D7 have different ownership structures compared to their short haul counterparts.
This was an A330 crew out of Kuala Lumpur so training would have been out of Kuala Lumpur. Technically, not within Kuala Lumpur itself as the airport is not within the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
