I'm looking to fly LAX to Bangkok via Air China which is in the Star Alliance business class. I'll probably fly American to get from Nashville to LAX and then United back home since the outbound in non-stop.
I can't book it through the United website. Any option through their website is 50% more expensive.
Does it matter whether or not I wait until late December when I have Silver status to book the flight through Expedia or wherever? I THINK that I'll get the miles, PQM, PQS but not the PQD....
If flying business, Silver status will not be of any added benefit. Status at travel is the main consideration, status at booking only matters for E+ access on UA flights -- and not available for Silver.
If not booked on 016 ticket, for the CA flights you will get PQM and RDS
based on flight miles and fare class , no PQDs. No elites bonuses offered, although there will be a 500 mile min for elites.
Nothing or the AA flights, better to credit those to AA.
Or the UA flights, you will get PQMs based on flight flight miles and fare class and PQDs/RDMs based of cost of the UA segment.
