Yes the right side is the way to go for transpac westbound. The heat is only one aspect. The darkness or lack thereof is another.

There are self-stick rubberized covers on BA in F (on their 787-9 service (LHR-NRT) for this not sure about other classes. As of Feb. this year JAL did not have them in C or better. Will report again in December

The windows while a great idea are slow to respond and very inefficient for full blockage. I strongly suspect that we will see this as being one aspect of this aircraft which gets upgraded eventually.
