Can't say anything about Tumi, but I have had several Victorinox Suitcases and a Victorinox backpack and have been quite impressed with the build quality. Never had to use the warranty though, so I can't comment on that.

I have a Filson briefcase which I absolutely love, but they're a bit heavier so I don't think it would fit your needs.
