Should a passenger have to speculate whether an unwritten and unknown policy "could" apply, when the airline's own website clearly states a contrary policy?

I am happy to comply with any BA policy...... if only BA would give me a fighting chance to learn what that policy actually is.

I find it interesting that none of the responses to this thread (so far) have been able to tell us what the actual policy is. I would have thought that it would be in BA's interest to provide its passengers with a clear expectation.
